the Design Consultation

A 2-hour process where I come to your home to learn your vision and give you guidance and suggestions. This may be all you need to solidify your design ideas, or it may just be the start of our work together.

What to expect

After you contact us, I will reach out to schedule a free 15-Minute Discovery Call. We will discuss your project and make sure a design consultation is the next right step.

Because we’ll be working closely together in the design process, the consultation is a great way to meet and understand your vision and how I work. I can get a feel for your home, your goals, and how I can help. For 2 hours, I’ll tour your home, ask a lot of questions, and provide some overall guidance on next steps, suggestions, and ideas.

what is included

I tour the entire home, even if it’s just one room you are focused on, to get a bigger picture. I review the functionality of the home, things you like and don’t like about the home, and learn more about your lifestyle and daily routines.

What is the difference between a design consultation and a full design plan? I will not be able to design an entire room in 2 hours, or select a specific piece of furniture, lighting, or artwork BUT we might be able to loosely come up with a furniture layout, and idea of style.

The actual design process will be a comprehensive deep dive that requires detailed selections and big-picture planning.

If you already have items picked out (tile, lighting, flooring, furniture, etc.): I give you feedback and make sure you’re on the right track. Additionally, I can point out any design missteps I see along the way!

If you want suggestions: I will share a bird's eye view of my vision for your furniture layout, artwork placement, and style ideas.

What is not included

As spontaneously creative as I am, I will not go into details on specific items or provide an entire design plan. Creating a well-designed and functioning space is my expertise and I only want to be able to provide my best recommendations. That’s for after the consultation if you decide to move forward.

Also, I do not hang artwork during the consult, but we can discuss possible areas to hang them and suggested heights.

What comes after the consulstation

Well that is up to you. You may have just needed the consult to help pick paint colors, or have a professional eye look at some the finishes or furniture pieces you are considering. However, if you need more assistance with your project , we can discuss the next steps at the end of the consultation.

How to prepare

Take 20 minutes to gather a digital or print mood board. I like to recommend Houzz or Pinterest to find some inspiration. These images help me get a sense of your style.

Don’t go overboard picking up the home before I come! I am coming over to see how you live and what is working, and what spaces need more thought. If I don’t see the pile of shoes at the door, or the catch all spot on the edge of the counter, I don’t know if there is an issue to address.

I look forward to working with you!
